So, Karneval begins in Germany today
travel and tourism with large and small cameras
Off to Weeze in Germany. Back and forth I go.

Albania a few months back
Deep in the forest in Albania, close to monuments of bygone ages, there lay two peoples sleeping and their dog watching over them keeping guard. All close to a beautiful geyser. A strange and sometimes hostile country that still has lots of charm.

Walking and staying at the West Highland Way
Of all the walks in Scotland the West Highland Way still holds something special for me.

Market traders, Glasgow artists, hipster preachers and gentle onlookers
The Barras Market in Glasgow.
This man used to be a trader who was at Paddy’s market for many decades.
He believes that the fate of The Barras will be the same as that of Paddy’s Market.
A polite and intelligent man.
Glasgow artist Craig Mulholland having a fly cigarette on Sauchiehall Street
This rotting apple reminded me of Dali’s Un Chien Andalou. The ants were all over the thing until I got the chance to take a photo and then typically they all fled and left and only a few remained.

26°C in Glasgow, colour
26°C in Glasgow, no colour
Given that Scotland usually has constantly bad weather, it is unusual for the temperature to rise to 26°C in Glasgow. People change when this happens and they usually become slightly happier. It’s good to see this and because I carry a camera with me everywhere i go, well, it gives me the opportunity to capture some of it.
A few little dogs of Budapest in B+W-15mm
I rarely use such a wide lens but I do still have a 15MM ultra that I occasionally place on my rangefinder Leica.
I shoot almost everything in B+W as the FF sensor seems to give horrid looking colour switching at the edges. The vignetting is completely natural on all these shots.
The little guy above would not come anywhere near me

Heartbreak as Glasgow’s famous art school goes up in flames
Years worth of work goes up in flames for some students as their art school catches fire.
One of Glasgow’s most architecturally beautiful schools goes up in flames and the city stops to watch it burn hoping that firefighters can extinguish and save the building. Unfortunately the library, one of the schools most loved and beautiful areas, was badly damaged in the fire.

Think differently
I think Glasgow needs more folk like this colourful young guy. What a place it would be if we did have.
Standing out from the crowd of garish pinks and standard issue high street clothes.
Thinking a little differently from the typical herded individuals that make up many of the folk in Glasgow.
